No. Compounded semaglutide is prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy for an individual patient under a prescription, and compounded medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA the way a finished commercial drug is.
What this means for you
The FDA approves specific finished products after reviewing a manufacturer's clinical and manufacturing data. A compounded preparation is made to a prescriber's order from the active ingredient, so no federal agency has signed off on that particular vial. Oversight comes instead from the state board of pharmacy, the federal compounding law known as Section 503A, and the licensed provider who writes and monitors the prescription. Compounded semaglutide is also not a generic of Ozempic or Wegovy; no generic semaglutide exists.
How it works at Biotech Lifestyle
Every prescription follows an evaluation by a licensed provider, and it is filled by a licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy that is named in your account. Whether compounded semaglutide, another medication or no medication is appropriate for you is your provider's decision.
