What testosterone replacement therapy is
Testosterone replacement therapy restores testosterone to a normal range in men whose levels are clinically low and who have symptoms that go with it: low energy, reduced sex drive, difficulty building or keeping muscle, increased body fat, low mood, and poor sleep. TRT is a medical treatment for a diagnosed deficiency, not a performance product.
Diagnosis requires blood work. Testosterone is measured in the morning, usually twice, alongside markers that tell a provider whether treatment is safe and how to monitor it. Treatment options include injections, topical creams and other forms, and the choice depends on your labs, your preferences and your provider's judgment.
Once treatment starts, monitoring continues. Follow-up labs check that levels are in range and that blood counts, estradiol and other markers stay where they should.

How TRT is delivered
Injectable testosterone cypionate is the most common form: a small subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, usually once or twice a week, which keeps levels steady. Topical creams are applied daily and suit men who prefer not to inject, though they require care around skin contact with others. Your provider will explain the trade-offs and choose with you.

Risks and monitoring
TRT can raise red blood cell count, affect cholesterol, worsen sleep apnea, and reduce sperm production. It is not appropriate for men with prostate or breast cancer. None of these are reasons to avoid treatment when it is indicated, but they are reasons treatment should be supervised by a licensed provider with regular lab work rather than self-managed.

Do I need blood work first?

What testosterone level is considered low?
